Proposed Temporary Road Closure – A603 Cambridge Road, Cardington/Bedford Road, Cople

I have a request for a Temporary Road Closure at the above location for carriageway work. Details are listed in the schedule below and having assessed the application I am satisfied the request is justified.

The alternative routes for diverted traffic are as shown below and will be signed accordingly. The restrictions are to be in operation only when the necessary signs are erected on site. The Legal Order will be made to cover a four month period; however, it is anticipated that the closure will be in operation from 2000hrs Monday 19th March to 0600hrs Tuesday 20th March 2012 – Specific dates will be advertised locally closer to the time.

Road: A603 Cambridge Road, Cardington/Bedford Road, Cople.

Reason: Carriageway work.

Length Affected: From Willington Road, Cople to the A603/A421 Interchange.

Date: The closure is anticipated to be in operation from 2000hrs Monday 19th March to 0600hrs Tuesday 20th March 2012 – Specific dates will be advertised locally closer to the time – Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.

Alternative Route: Proceed in an easterly direction along the A603 to the roundabout adjoining the A1. Take the 1st exit and continue to the roundabout adjoining the A421. Take the 2nd exit and continue to site, and vice versa.

(Personally I would have thought driving through Cardington would be much quicker than the council's suggested route)
