25/01/12 Cople - Vehicle fuel theft

This is a Ringmaster message, from Bedfordshire Police. Please pass the details of this message onto friends and neighbours. Bedfordshire Police ask residents to report any suspicious activity around parked vehicles after a theft took place at a quarry in Cople. The offence took place between 7:00 p.m. on the 23rd and 7:00 a.m. on the 24th of January. The vehicle was a White, 57 registered, Mercedes, Lorry. The offender has removed the petrol cap and syphoned diesel from the tank. The safest place to park your vehicle is in a garage, if you have a garage please use it. Park your vehicle in a well lit area. Always check that it is correctly locked, and all valuables are removed, before leaving the vehicle. We are particularly keen to hear about suspicious persons seen under vehicles, or with containers and syphoning equipment. 13/01/12 Willington Road - Shed Burglary

Residents are asked to be vigilant, and to review the security of all outbuildings, after a Shed burglary took place in Willington Road, in Cople. The offence took place between 8:00 a.m. on the 11th and 8:00 a.m. on the 12th of January. The offender has climbed awall into the back garden. Padlocks have been cut from two sheds in the garden. A work bench, a wheelbarrow and garden tools have been taken. Outbuildings, sheds and garages can be especially, vulnerable to criminals, and are often not the best place, to store high value items. Always lock shed and garages, and help keep sheds secure with a good quality padlock, and hasp. If possible anchor down items, like bikes and lawn mowers. Consider an alarm and make sure your security lighting is covering your shed and garage. 12/12/11 Northill Road - Burglary

This is a Ringmaster Message from Bedfordshire Police. Please pass the details of this message onto friends, and neighbours. Residents are asked to be vigilant, and to report any suspicious activity in back gardens, after a burglary took place in Northill Road, in Cople, on Thursday the 8th of December. The offence took place between 7:20 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The offender has gained access to the rear garden and smashed a panel in the back door. Two high value racing bikes have been taken. Bedfordshire Police ask resident to review the security of all fences, gates and outbuildings. Your boundaries are your first line of defence against criminals. Always secure garden gates, keep fences and wall in good repair and consider defensive planting, or trellis. Avoid leaving garden tools out, where they can be used by an offender to force open a door or window. Keep property like bikes locked away in a shed or garage. Keep garden furniture, ladders, and Wheelie bins in a secure garage or shed, or locked up away from the house, where they might be used to climb onto a roof, access a first floor window or access neighbours garden. 11/11/11 Willington Road - vehicle plates

Vehicle owners are encouraged to improve the security of registration plates, after a theft took place in Willington Road, in Cople. The offence took place on Thursday the 10th of November, between 7:45 a.m. and 8:45 p.m. The vehicle was a Green, Ford Fiesta. Both the front and rear registration plates have been taken. No attempt was made to enter the vehicle. Bedfordshire Police recommend using one of the following methods. Replacing the plates with Anti Tamper plates. Replacing the existing screws with non return screws. 03/10/11 Grange Lane, Cople - Vehicle

Bedfordshire Police remind vehicle owners to remove all property from vehicles when parked, after 5 thefts took place at the car park for the Sport and Social Club, in Grange Lane, Cople. All 5 offences took place on Saturday the 1st of October, between 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. In each case the offender had forced the lock from the drivers door. Once inside each vehicle was searched and property has been taken. Property includes, Stereo equipment, mobile phones, laptops, satellite navgiation systems and an Ipod. Please remember to remove all valuables from the vehicle when ever it is left unattended. Remember to remove the holder for any Satellite Navigation Systems, or Mobile phones, and clean away any marks left on the windscreen or dashboard. Leaving the empty glove box open will also discourage an offender breaking into the vehicle. 06/08/11 Milton Ernest - Distraction Burglary

This is a Ringmaster message from Bedfordshire Police. If you live near to an elderly, or vulnerable person, please take the time to think about who might be calling at their home. A Distraction Burglary took place in Church Close, off Thurleigh Road, in Milton Ernest, on Thursday the 4th of August. Just after 11:45 a.m. a white van was seen outside the house of the elderly resident. A smartly dressed white male called to the house and said that as a result of local complaints, all electrical meters were being checked. The man was allowed into the house and checked the readings. He then claimed that the lady was owed some money and handed her 2 notes. He asked for change and watched her go to her purse. He then asked her to plug in a socket and wait by the plug. After the man had left the resident noticed a large amount of money missing from her purse. The offender was a White Male, 49 years old, 5 foot 4 in height, with short dark hair. He wore a Navy suit and a pink shirt. Bedfordshire Police offer the following advice. Keep both front and back doors locked at all times. Always use a door chain and viewer when answering your door. Always ask for Identification, and check it carefully. Council, and housing association staff, will make an appointment with you before they call at your home. It’s not your name on it! - Parcel Delivery Scam

20/07/11 Bedfordshire Police is warning the public to check labels carefully when taking delivery of parcels at their homes... A new scam has come to notice whereby parcels are being delivered to residences with the labels showing a correct address, but an unknown name. The person receiving the parcel has been asked to sign for it and, in many cases, has done so. Soon after the delivery, usually the following day, a woman visits the address saying she believes a parcel intended for her has been delivered there by mistake. The woman takes the parcel and is not seen again. Within a few days, occupants of the address invariably start to receive paperwork, often including payment demands for the parcel. The woman is described as being of mixed race, aged in her 20s, large build and approximately 5’5” tall. She has ‘significant red hair’. 29/06/11 Woodlands Close - Vehicle damage

Bedfordshire Police ask residents in Cople to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity around parked vehicle after a car was damaged in Woodlands Close. The offence took place between 9:00 p.m. on the 27th and 8:45 a.m. on the 28th of June. The vehicle was a Silver, 51 registered Renault Clio. Two wheels on the vehicle have been slashed. No attempt was made to enter the vehicle, and no property has been taken. The safest place to park your vehicle is in a garage, if you have a garage please use it. Park your vehicle in a well lit area. Always check that it is correctly locked, and all valuables are removed, before leaving the vehicle. 15/06/11 Woodlands Close - Garden Theft

Two vehicle crimes have been reported in Grange Lane in Cople. A vehicle crime took place in Grange Lane, between 10:30 p.m. on the 18th and 6:20 a.m. on the 19th of March. The vehicle was a Grey, R registered, Rover. A side window has been smashed and the Stereo has been taken. Crime reference, J,H,/,1,1,7,0,0,/2011. A second vehicle crime took place in Grange Lane, between 11:30 p.m. on the 18th and 5:40 a.m. on the 19th of March. The vehicle was a White, R registered, Mitsubishi Colt. 01/02/11 Northill Rd, Cople - Burglary

This is a Ringmaster Message from Bedfordshire Police. Please pass the details of this message onto any friends, and neighbours. A Burglary took place in Northill Road, in Cople, on Monday the 31st of January, between 7:35 a.m. and 5:35 p.m. The offender has gained access to the rear of the property, using a rock to smash a ground floor window. Cash, jewellery and a set of vehicle keys were taken. The offender has used the keys to unlock the garage and remove the vehicle. This crime is part of a series where the offenders have used keys stolen from a burglary, to also steal a vehicle. Keep doors and windows locked at all times. Avoid leaving property like vehicle keys, handbags, or laptops in hallways, or where they can be seen from outside the house. Remove all keys from the locks and keep them in a safe place and out of view.
