DESCRIPTION:Would you like to take part in this year’s Starlight Walk and remember a loved one? \nJoin us as we walk around the grounds and local countryside on the 24 September 2016\, it’s also a great way to raise money for your local hospice. \nGet those walking shoes ready and book: www.sueryder.org/stjohns/starlightwalk \nThe starlight Walk will take place within the St John’s Hospice grounds and surrounding countryside\, and will include a shorter 5km option as well as the usual 10km. \nThe night kicks off with entertainment on the main stage including a clubbercise warm up in-line with our Ibiza theme\, so there is sure to be something to keep you motivated! \nWhat do I need? The route will be lit where possible\, but you may like to bring your own torch\, or better yet\, support a great cause and buy one of ours! \nThere will be hot drinks\, food and merchandise available. \nIf you would also like to volunteer on the night please call 01767 642412\, alternatively you can make a donation by emailing stjohnsfundraising@suerydercare.org. \nRegistration fee Adult £20 \nLast year’s event raised £65\,000. DESCRIPTION:The Community Vineyard\nOpen Day and Wine Sale\nBedfordshire’s oldest vineyard is 30 this year!  Discover the hidden secrets of the medieval vineyard and abbey\, why and how the monks made wine\, and how we care for the vines all year round. \nThere will be tours\, wine tastings\, (see timetable below) other local food stalls\, a “pop up” wine school\, BBQ and other refreshments. \nWarden Abbey wines will be available to taste & buy (cash and cheques only please). \nAa rare opportunity to visit both the vineyard and the historic Warden Abbey building which is being thrown open by the Landmark Trust. \nLocated near Old Warden\, the vineyard is now run by Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity as a community vineyard which is cared for all year round by volunteers and works with other local charities and schools. The Open Day is organised by the Friends of Warden Abbey Vineyard and is our main fundraiser of the year\, to raise funding to keep this historic vineyard for the community. \nBBQ lovers are in for a treat! World Food Championship winners ‘The Wonky Donkeys’ will be heading up the BBQ. If you have a pot to spare after your jam making please contact June who will be happy to collect. \nAny preserves\, pickles and chutneys very welcome. \nGreat Cople Bake-Off \nWe are planning to hold a baking competition. It’s a chance for everyone to dust off their baking tins and make something scrumptious. \nChildren up to 12 years are free to enter and are invited to make a plate of decorated biscuits\, can be any flavour\, shape or design. \nFor Adults (12 years upwards) there is a 50p entry fee and you are invited to make a sponge cake (either round or loaf tin) any flavour\, filling or topping of your choice. It can be your best tried and tested Victoria\nSandwich or something a little different\, maybe a fresh cream or fruit filling\, whatever you fancy. \nWe can’t promise that Mary Berry will be a guest judge\, but we can promise that the judges will taste all the entries!
